here I am at the beautiful Del-Mar race track in California! This was my first time here. I had a wonderful time seeing the grounds, people, and of course the Horses!

When I was about 15 years old, I started working for a friend of my fathers, grooming race horses, and then learning to gallop the horses. I was in Heaven! Getting a small weekly pay check to work with these amazing Thoroughbreds was a dream come true. The man I worked for was Matt Schemier. He had 12 head of race horses, that he mostly raced at Portland Meadows. This was my first experience working with or even being around such breathtaking horses. I have to say..to me the Thoroughbred is the Ferrari of the horse world!
I fell in love with the breed, and the sport! Matt had one special horse at the time I was working for him, named Boss C. Boss C was a Stakes winner, and the favorite to win the Oregon Triple Crown! Boss C was on the cover of the Oregon Horse. He did not win the triple. If I remember right he won first two, and lost the third race.
Boss C was a small horse very compact type, with muscles bulging everywhere! He was something. I will never forget him! He was so fit, and touching even his neck was like a brick!

Me and my dad ended up buying two horses from my aunt a few years later. We were going to run the gelding and the mare. The mare showed up under weight and lame. I called the mare Cecilia.  I decided to get her in good shape and use her as a broodmare. I loved her breeding, not because it was fancy, but because she was great granddaughter to Ribot on the top. Which I believe is better then being a daughter of Ribot. What I have seen Grand, and great granddaughter to Riobt have endded up the best broodmares. The other thing I liked about this mare was on the bottom side of her pedigree she was Argentina bred. She was out of a mare by Exodo (ARG). My mare had won a couple of claiming races at Golden Gate. The Second foal she had was a Stakes Winner by Lord Of The Apes, by Alydar. This colt was a really nice horse. Smart, athletic, good conformation, and he could run on any surface. Winning races from 5 furlongs to 1 1/16!  The gelding won his first out with me being trainer. Called him Soda. See pics below.

Well that is part of the story of how I became involved in the Sport Of Kings!

First time sending a horse to post....He won! I was on cloud Nine! I had a few trainers help me put run down wraps on him. Everyone was so thrilled for me!

Was Thrilled to show my Mare Cecilia in Halter! Won her class aginst all breeds! Firsst time being shown.

Bogen top left. Meritable was top stallion in Washington. My mare aborted her baby by him. All other pics of Bogen S.W. my mares 2nd foal.

Soda was such a grand gelding. Most peple would mistake him for a stallion.
